I have been designing and selling knitted toy patterns for almost two and a half years now. I’ve sold over 1,000 patterns and the few free patterns listed by the side of this blog entry have been downloaded a total of 1,915 times. That’s a lot of knitters turning my ideas into finished objects.
Thank you. All of you. You rock.
All this attention got me thinking. Sometimes on Ravelry.com I see photos of people’s finished objects made from my patterns, I love that. I especially love it when the knitter modifies the pattern a little bit, makes some funky features or uses a yarn I would never have considered. I want to share these things and I have blogged about them occasionally, but they’re not mine to share, I’d rather the knitter shared them with me and some other people who really like knitting toys.
I thought about making a Ravelry group, but my patterns are sold on Etsy and Knit Picks as well and there are still some knitters not on Ravelry you know. So, I plucked up my courage and started a Facebook page for Natty Knits. Here’s the link:
I hope that eventually there will be enough Natty Knits Facebook Fans to have a little community, share some FO photos, mod ideas, get some coupon codes for the Etsy shop, and of course hear about new patterns. If I can just make sense of Facebook’s promotional contests rules, I’m hoping to do a few giveaways too.
But for this to happen, I need you! Knitters and Natty Knits aficionados to come to http://www.facebook.com/NattyKnits and Like the page. Let’s see how many of those 1,000s of knitters would like to say “hello, look how I decorated my knitted Christmas tree” or “here’s my knitted shark snacking on a Barbie”.
Don’t worry, the blog will still be here, I still have a lot of long winded things to say, tips to give out and ideas to share. But in the meantime, I’ll see you on Facebook.
